High excitement

Not only did we find a frog in the garden today …

…but I also met Chris Packham (who I confess I’ve long had a bit of a thing for, since the Really Wild Show days) on the beach! He very kindly stopped doing his beachcombing thing (it’s Beach Week, apparently) briefly so T could take a photo of us. What a nice chap.

A step too far?

T bought a second-hand shed recently which was boring old brown, so he painted it and created a windowbox for added cuteness.

I then commented that the window looked a bit bare and wondered if some curtains might be nice…

Does this take it more into the realms of girly playhouse rather than manly shed?!

Pay attention, rabbits

Lucy’s had birthday celebrations lasting 3 days, lucky thing, involving lunch and a trip to the park on Sunday with Nanny and Uncle M & Auntie S who gave her some fab wobbly-headed lucky cats,

a party in the park with lots of her friends the next day, followed by her actual birthday today, which was much like any other Tuesday with gym and school, except with loads of presents and an extravagantly iced cupcake at teatime. I’m ridiculously pleased with how much she loves her Sylvanian Family animals as I think they’re cute too, but also afraid that I’ve kick-started an expensive habit – doh! She gave them a running commentary on how to do Aqua Beads and has gone to sleep clutching Ingrid.

Can you tell what it is yet?

I don’t think Jane Asher’s got much to worry about, but Lucy was quite impressed and it disappeared pretty quickly at her party yesterday, so success!

How did we go from this

Phew!

So last Monday I did my 20 mile walk in preparation for the Moonwalk 2011 with my brother – he devised a great route which went past the Chattri, over Ditchling Beacon, and then on over the South Downs (and Ups – lots of those, but with wonderful views to reward us), through fields full of cows and sheep, ending up about 5 hours later in Southease where our mum picked us up (thanks Mum!). And look what awaited us when we got back to my house… ahhh!

Trust me, I’m a vet

We went to see my lovely friend Sonja during the Easter holidays and admired her gorgeous new baby over lunch while Lucy and her little girl played beautifully together.

We also did an early exchange of birthday presents, one of which was from Sonja’s mum, Sally, who couldn’t have chosen a better present for Lucy – she often puts the outfit on straight after she gets up in the morning and I now have a new role as a veterinary nurse, getting all the animals ready for Vet Lucy.

Unlikely things I have done

April 27th, 2011 by Sukie | 1 Comment | Filed in Uncategorized

Somewhat randomly, I booked T and me on to a ‘trapeze workshop’ recently (although I confess I have secretly and inexplicably harboured a desire to learn for quite some time) and it turned out to be loads of fun, although much, much harder than I thought it would be. Even getting to the sitting on the bar position was quite involved and difficult, who’d have thought it?! I had blisters on my hands and could barely lift my arms up the next day, but I highly recommend it if you’re ever at a loose end in Brighton and fancy doing something odd.

Happy Mother’s Day

I love seeing how Lucy’s drawing is developing – I have hands and eyelashes now! We enjoyed noodles and gyoza with my mum and M&S before going to the best ice-cream parlour in town, here. Lucy also helped me choose this beautiful camelia and told me I’m the best mummy she’s ever had (thanks! Good to know I’m better than all those other ones she had before me!).
